Vantage Point (2008)
3.5/5
2008-07-08 23:34
Watchable action flick, although there were way too many tiring flashbacks.

Bill (2007)
3.5/5

Predictable, schematic, much too naive, yet somehow funny, very funny at that.

Omaret yakobean (2006)
3/5
2008-07-06 00:51
Just good. Too long, too boring, too poor acting, too many unsolved plots and to top it off - storyline has too many weak points.

The Children of Huang Shi (2008)
2.5/5
2008-07-05 00:50
Big ambitions, poor resolution. Great story ruined by weak script and poor acting. Could've been so much better...

There Will Be Blood (2007)

And blood there was. Oil, power, religion, atheism, hatred, money and lots of other things too. Dark, very dark movie.

The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)
1/5
2008-07-02 00:23
Another fantasy movie for little kids. Schematic, predictable and full of holes in the loop. In other words: crap.

In Bruges (2008)
5/5
2008-07-01 00:13
Hilarious. Bordering insanity, then crossing it, then coming back. Completely boring in the first 50 minutes, then suddenly takes off and keeps you on your toes till the very (ambiguous) end. And extremely funny too.

The Signal (2007/I)
1/5
2008-06-16 00:58
Bordering absurd? No, it's way too absurd. It can't even decide whether it is a comedy (only few funny scenes; those were good) or a thriller/horror. Bad editing (unnecessary flashbacks). And on top of that its super tiring.

A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006)
4.5/5
2008-05-25 00:58
Wow. I feel like I've watched at least a dozen films just like it (Spike Lee, thank you imdb), yet somehow this one felt quite different. Maybe because most of it has actually happend? I'm not sure. Funny thing is I got tired of the chaotic story and shaky camera movements quite quickly. And the story felt so cliche at first. Still I became entangled in it basically before the first half went by. And the ending gave at least 2 stars more to the rating. Great soundtrack did its job too.

The Bank Job (2008)
4.5/5
2008-05-19 00:15
A little bit slow in the beginning and a little bit complicated finish. Overally - very good. I wonder how much of it is actually true. I suppose lots. One quote to remember:
- A bit tight under the arms, don't you think?
- Traditional fit, sir. One can't raise one's arms above one's head. It tends to inhibit any impulsive acts of surrender.

The Golden Compass (2007)
3/5
2008-05-17 00:24
Childish bordering stupid. Definitely naive yet somehow had me at the polar bear introduction (and then the big fight). I almost cried, which was very surprising for such a lousy movie. And what's with the abrupt ending in the middle of a story?

An Inconvenient Truth (2006)
4/5

Decent documentary. Sure there is a global warming. Sure it causes global problems. But are human CO2 emissions solely responsible for this? Sorry, but I'm still not convinced.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)

Funny, actually. Somehow avoided to be too cheesy. Last scene, after the end credits, when we see the real Dewey Cox is just classic.

06/05 (2004)
4.5/5
2008-04-28 00:58
Much, much too complicated. And way too quick to actually follow it. Only after reading the imdb forums I've realized what this movie was about. Strangely enough, the director Theo Van Gogh has been murdered for similar reasons that Pim Fortuym (Dutch politician, whose murder is the baseline of this movie) was.

I simply cannot believe I go on and on and watch those silly, no, no silly, just plainly stupid hollywood romantic comedies. One, okey, two, three tops! funny moments. And that's all. Everything else? Ridiculously bad. In other words - total crap.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)
4.5/5
2008-04-22 00:37
Crimes and misdemeanors. Very uneasy movie, almost unbearable to watch. No good heroes. No good deeds.
As a side note - definitely the best opening scene I've seen recently.
May you be in heaven half an hour... before the devil knows you're dead.

Enchanted (2007)
4.5/5
2008-03-09 01:06
There's something magical about movies bordering fantasy and the real world. Stardust was a perfect pioneer, which set standards quite high. Enchanted is here to follow its footsteps. Apart from the flawed King-kong reference it is a great take on this theme and a truly magic ride.
